The Non-Existent Film Company

A non-existent film company, producing the occasional trailer for films that have never been made.

Termina

A sinister time-piece, handed down across the generations… Cthulhu and the deep ones who remain sleeping… this is what the trailer for this un-made film would look like.

This short video started from the idea of a cursed pocket watch. There is something about gears and the minute parts of a watch that screams “sinister”, and the kind of mind that can focus that intensely on them enough to manufacture or maintain them must surely be more susceptible to the occult than normal people! The carved watch, with its multiple hands moving in obscure directions, took form, along with the tiny eyes in the case that follow the camera wherever it goes.

The film would have been set in 1968, starting in Paris. The narrator lays out the history of the device, building up the sense of falsehoods in her family history, and building the sense that the pocket watch may be evil – we never find out exactly what, or who, it is made from – but that it also protects the family in some way.

Well, it would protect the family, provided it is kept fully wound at all times. Needless to say, it finally isn’t and stops… and the trailer hints at some of the terror that then begins to ensue throughout the unmade film.
